Dalian, People's Republic of China (06.09.2007 - 08.09.2007)

Annual Meeting of the New Champions 'Summer Davos'

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will generate greenhouse gases in the amount of approximately 9'900 tons CO2-equivalents. Greenhouse gases (such as CO2 and others) are mainly responsible for today's climatic change. As over 90% of the emissions are caused by airplanes transporting the participants to the meeting, World Economic Forum has only limited possibilities to contribute directly to global climate protection.

The DCA therefore enables every participant to support a climate protection programme which avoids the emission of greenhouse gases through the replacement of fuel power plants by small-scale biogassification systems.

The aim of the DCA is that every participant compensates, i.e. offsets, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions he has generated himself by voluntarily contributing to this programme. As a start, the World Economic Forum compensates 50% of the estimated 9'900 tons of greenhouse gases which are due to the attendance of the invited guests.
