WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM Annual Meeting

The World Economic Forum Annual Meeting generated greenhouse gases in the amount of 8'100 tons CO2-equivalents. On average, 3.6t CO2-equivalents were emitted per person.

Greenhouse gases (such as CO2 and others) are mainly responsible for today's climatic change. As over 90% of the emissions are caused by airplanes transporting the participants to the meeting, World Economic Forum has only limited possibilities to contribute directly to global climate protection.

The DCA therefore enables every participant to support a climate protection programme which avoids the emission of greenhouse gases through the replacement of fuel power plants by small-scale biogassification systems.

The aim of the DCA is that every participant compensates, i.e. offsets, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions he has generated himself by voluntarily contributing to this programme. As a start, the World Economic Forum compensated 50% of the 8'100 tons of greenhouse gases which are due to the attendance of the invited guests.
