Project Selection
The Projects have been selected by the DCA Steering Committee according to the following criteria:
Actual and potential projects under the Clean Development Mechanism, that
- Are additional to business as usual
- Generate real, long term, measurable emission reductions by comparison of actual project emissions against predicted baseline emissions
- Apply approved or scientifically appropriate baseline and monitoring methodologies
- Deliver substantial sustainable development benefits measured by improvements in socio-economic criteria, without significant negative environmental impacts
- Are or can be implemented in any country
- There is no requirement for host country approval in Non-Annex 1 countries
- Nuclear, large-scale hydro-electric and non CO2 GHG projects are excluded. Renewable energy projects are favoured. Forestry projects that create long-term stable stores of carbon can be considered.
- Projects shall be easily reproduced to facilitate scaling-up.
- Projects shall deliver certified evidence of a reduction in emission units within three years of their launch at the Annual Meeting.
