Solar Cookers in Rural Northwestern China
Your voluntary contribution will help to provide approximately 20,000 units of solar cookers to rural residents living in the dry and barren land of Ningxia province of northwestern China – one of the poorest regions of the world. The region is extremely dry and it is experiencing severe desertification and water and soil loss. The rural region is an ideal region for utilizing solar energy, it has very few cloudy or rainy days. The project will provide the rural residents a practical means to meet the energy demand of their daily lives. It will increase the disposable income of the rural residents by saving expenses on coal. The project will improve the local air quality and mitigate the severe desertification the region is suffering from. The experienced personnel trained by this project can assist other projects in the future.
