India: Sustainable Energy for rural progress
This programme has the objective to electrify and empower 100 non-electrified villages in India on the basis of decentralised power supply systems based on renewable energy resources and technologies. Through the replacement of fuel power plants by small-scale biogassification systems, the saving of CO2-emissions for 1 village is approx. 5’500t/year per MW. The cost of power production from the small-scale biomass gasification systems developed by DESI Power is lower than any other technology in India today. Desipower promotes such projects together with local partners and is already running a project in another village in the same region as the DCA supported project will be implemented.
All in all the programm provides the following sustainable values:
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
- Reduction of local pollution, improvement of local air quality
- Employment generation, transfer of know how and local value addition as the programme is linked to village micro-enterprises
- Reliable and affordable electricity supply.
