Salido Kecil mini hydro power plant
Site Layout:
The proposed rehabilitation features the following general layout characteristics:
- The potential of the Salido River will be exploited. The full flow utilised will be available approximately 300 days per year (85% excedance on the flow duration curve (FDC)).
- The layout of the water conveyance system from the intake to the powerhouse remains unchanged.
- The three existing Pelton turbines will be totally overhauled and new generators and control equipment will be installed. The second and third unit will alternately serve the ice factory and will therefore not be connected to the grid during the rehabilitation of the first unit. Rehabilitation of unit 2 and 3 will be accomplished in phase 2 of the rehabilitation project.
The proposed rehabilitation will optimize existing infrastructure and equipment, minimizing the need for imported equipment whilst ensuring a satisfactory level of performance is achieved. After a detailed assessment of a variety of options, refurbishment of the existing turbines and the installation of new generators and control equipment is clearly the most cost effective and profitable way of rehabilitating the plant and exploiting the hydraulic potential and existing infrastructure to its maximum.
The scheme’s efficiency and output will be increased significantly and operation and maintenance procedures will be simplified and optimised. The service life expectancy of the plant will reach >20 years.
Design Capacity Power Duration Curve and Annual Production:
The design capacity of one unit is 330 kW. The annual generation is calculated to be 2441 MWh with a mean production of 279 kW. After completion of the entire rehabilitation project, combined output of the three identical units is calculated to be 7323 MWh / year.
Project Measures:
The recommended rehabilitation project comprises the following measures:
- Rehabilitation works at the water conveyance system. This includes stabilisation of the weir, repair and replacement of sluice gates, stabilisation and repairs at the forebay and other miscellaneous repairs to the civil structures
- Comprehensive overhaul of one of the existing turbines and installation of a new generator (400V, min 450 kVA)
- Installation of new control and interconnection equipment including protection equipment in accordance with international standards and the requirements of PT. PLN.
- Phase 2: Upgrade of the existing transmission line and replacement of the existing penstock.
