Small hydropower stations in Hunan Province, China

Small hydropower stations in Hunan Province, China

The project activity includes building and operating respectively 1.76MW, 1.03MW and 1MW run-of-river power plants located in the Linkou River Basin in Xishang Village of Tongdao Autonomous County, Hunan Province, China. Electricity generated by the project will be transmitted to Central China Power (CCPG) displacing part of the electricity generated by CCPG, which is currently dominated by fossil fuel-fired plants, and thus help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. On the economic front, the building of the hydropower stations will promote development of local economies.

A water and soil conservation plan will be carried out after construction of each plant. There will be no effects on local soil conditions and vegetation. Permanent jobs at the hydropower stations will be offered to local residents who used to be local farmers. The job opportunities created during project construction and operation period will increase the income of local residents. The project improves the quality of local electricity supply and helps ease local power shortages.
